Pen guns

There are these weapons, presumably developed by the OSS or CIA that carry one .22 caliber round in a casing that looks like a pen. I have seen these for sale on that big gun-auction website, forget the name. They are supposed to be classified as AOW. I would assume that firing would be done by twisting a spring-loaded firing-pen into the round after pointing at the desired target. I would also assume that it would only be lethal at point-blank range.

They look like cool little collectors items. Anyone else ever see these?

I've actually fired on of these suckers.

Besides being an unpleasant experience I was amazed by the accuracy.

As in "amazed when the round hit the floor three feet in front of the bullet trap 10 feet away and bounced in."

Strictly a novelty item. I'm rather have a derringer.

Well like I said POINT BLANK. Like to pop a person guarding a spy so they could escape or something. "Mind if I write out a confession?" Something like that.

I was shot with one once. I pulled the bullet out with tweezers. I'm pretty confident it was a .22 short.

Those mouse calibers are best employed against the face & neck.

Yep, the pen guns are something to own as a wall hanger, but I wouldn't bet my ass on one. The same goes for the pepper dispensers disguised as pens. I tested one for G&A years ago, and not only did it have a trivial range (point blank,) but it was difficult to index (you were just as likely to shoot yourself as the bad guy.)
