First time in history they've banned a Bolt Action Rifle.

    This is very very sad.

I sent Arnie a letter with my Republican party ID card in it because of that insipid girly man law he signed.
    Arnie is a chump!
They told us for years they were not going after target and bolt action rifles, now they are banning them.
I'm glad I voted for Tom McClintock, not that dirt bag Arnie.

Has anyone ever heard of a crime commited by a .50 BMG, anywhere in America?

      guns never commit crimes,people do!
but I digress no crimes have ever been commited by a person with a .50 cal.

You know what else? no one (except one POLICE OFFICER!!!) has ever committed a crime with a lawfully owned machine gun (real assault weapon).

LOL, yes, I meant "committed USING a .50 BMG"...

So, what do you left coasties do with the ones you've already got? Do you have to turn them in?

No we do not have to turn them in we have to register them, you have a one year grace period. If caught with an unregistered .50 cal it's a felony.
Also they are no lomger for sale to the public. Of course you can allways drive to AZ,NV & OR (over the state line) if you have an extra 3 to 5 thousand bucks they cost and buy one. Stupid politicians!

The Branch Davidian's took out an armored car with a Barrett .50 and killed several people. I think that's the only real case. A handful of other criminals have been found with them in there possession or arsenal but didn't use them in crime.

And please don't lump Washington and Oregon with California. We both have fairly liberal weapons laws.

"no one (except one POLICE OFFICER!!!) has ever committed a crime with a lawfully owned machine gun (real assault weapon)."

        I doubt that...anyway, doesn't even matter.

Actually, you're mistaken to doubt it.

We're just being protected from ourselves all over again.

On September 15th, 1988, a 13-year veteran of the Dayton, Ohio police department, Patrolman Roger Waller, then 32, used his fully automatic MAC-11 .380 caliber submachine gun to kill a police informant, 52-year-old Lawrence Hileman. Patrolman Waller pleaded guilty in 1990, and he and an accomplice were sentenced to 18 years in prison.

The Branch Davidians in Waco had a Barrett but whether or not they committed any crime is still up for debate.

Branch Davidians had legally obtained weapons. Including the Howitzer. Nothing they owned violated Texas law.

At one time I wanted to get me a Ruger #1 in .458 Lott, but I then heard the recoil impulse is over 100 ft lbs, which sounds pretty nasty. Pretty smoking hot round though, full 2300 ft per second with 500 grain bullets

That statement is so far off the mark I can hardley believe anyone one would make it.Here's just a few off the top of my head.
            Dillenger
            pretty boy floyd
            bonnie&clyde(already mentioned)
Wasn't there a bank robbery in Ca that the gunmen had autos there was a film about it.

Well the qualifying statement there is LAWFULLY OWNED... If someone illegally obtained the weapon, which is what I was asking about Bonnie and Clyde, it would not count. LEGALLY obtained and owned machine guns are a different thing... You see?
So while the statement is somewhat leading, it isn't necessarily invalid.
              It makes me curious.
Legally obtained semi autos have of course been used many times for crimes, but then so have legally obtained automobiles, ski-masks, etc. etc.
The problem isn't the gear. It's the person.
I'm wanting to hear more on this statistic....
